A tour that "cruise" the city of Dunedin and Larnach Castle, referred to by many as New Zealand's Castle. Built in 1871 by businessman and politician William Larnach, it is now a lifelong restoration project for the Barker family who are the current owners.
Sit back and relax as we introduce you to Dunedin and its iconic buildings and landmarks. We'll meet you inside the terminal building of Port Otago in Port Chalmers where your cruise ship berth.
Enroute to Dunedin city and the Castle, we'll see the world's steepest street Baldwin Street, Dunedin's covered Sports Stadium and the beautiful and diverse University of Otago campus, all residing in the city's northern area. After stretching the legs on the world's steepest street, we make our way towards the city centre to learn more about the Dunedin history and view some of our city's iconic landmarks including the Dunedin Railway Station, Law Courts House, First Church and other historic buildings in and around the town centre.
We next drive along the picturesque Otago Peninsula enroute to Larnach Castle. Our Castle stop is a self-guided tour and allows guests free time to explore the Castle, its Gardens and Grounds at their own pace. You can even purchase some food or a coffee from the fabulous Castle cafe.Tour highlights:
