Tour Overview

A half-day tour for travellers who want a proper taste of Coonawarra in a few hours. Hosted by Simon or Kerry, we travel the terra rossa strip and stop at a mix of family-run and historic cellar doors, with a produce platter along the way.

We explain what makes the red soil over limestone so good for Cabernet, and share the stories of the people who built the region.

Patrick of Coonawarra
Meet the family team for a full tasting of the Patrick range, then settle in for a gourmet produce platter with a glass of wine.

Wynns Coonawarra Estate
The historic Gables, home of Wynns. John Riddoch planted his first vineyards in 1891 and completed the three-gabled winery in 1896. We tell his story as the man who launched Coonawarra as a wine region, taste a range of Wynns wines and look into the original cellar.

Coonawarra Railway Siding
A quick stop for a photo and the story of the railway that opened Coonawarra to the world in the 1800s.

Katnook Coonawarra
Taste in John Riddoch's restored limestone building, on one of the district's oldest vineyard sites with a history dating back to 1867.

Raidis Estate
A relaxed tasting with the Raidis family, on the couches or out on the lawn. Their Pinot Gris is a rarity in Coonawarra and well worth trying. If you're lucky, Chris Raidis may finish your day with a Greek coffee.

Patrick of Coonawarra is our lunch stop and stays in every itinerary. The other wineries can be changed on request, subject to cellar door availability.

Good to Know

• Small group tour for up to 10 guests.
• Tours run with a minimum of 2 guests. A booking for 1 guest is confirmed once a second guest books.
• Please let us know about any dietary requirements when you book.
• Comfortable flat shoes are recommended. Bring a hat in the warmer months and a warm layer in the cooler months.
